We offer classes for ages 5-99. At age 5, we mostly teach focus. This isn't about complex "submissions." It’s about "Physical Literacy"—learning how to tumble, follow instructions, and develop balance.
Ages 7-12 kids have the cognitive ability to memorize multi-step techniques (e.g., "Step 1: Grab the collar, Step 2: Foot on the hip"). This is the prime age for building bully prevention skills and social confidence before they hit the middle school years.
And for teenagers, we focus on high-level self-defense and live sparring (rolling). The Brick Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu provides a great "third space" outside of school and home, which is huge for mental health at this age.

A common misconception is that you need to be “in shape” to start Jiu-Jitsu. In reality, most of our students began their journey exactly where you are today. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a great way to develop functional strength and improve cardiovascular health because the focus is on skill-building rather than the clock.
